Chief of Neurology, Hartford Hospital
Hartford Hospital, the 867-bed academic flagship of Hartford HealthCare (HHC), a $5.9 billion health system, is seeking a progressive, experienced and dynamic physician leader for the position of Chief of Neurology. The Chief will provide overall strategic and operational leadership for the Department in alignment with HHC's strategic focus on access, affordability, equity, and excellence. Playing an integral role in HHC's Ayer Neuroscience Institute, the Chief of Neurology will be key in continuing Hartford Hospital's reputation as one of the most respected teaching hospitals and tertiary care medical centers in New England.
Hartford Hospital is one of the largest medical centers in the Northeast and the second largest in Connecticut. The Hospital is a major tertiary referral facility for the state and region, operates an air ambulance service and is designated as a Level I Trauma Center. Hartford Hospital is a primary teaching affiliate for the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, with a number of residency and fellowship programs.
The Chief will set Departmental performance expectations, which provide for the highest quality and safest patient care with consistency in clinical standards, driven by qualitative and quantitative clinical outcomes monitoring. The Chief will establish a vision and execute on a strategy to advance leading-edge, high quality, and cost-effective clinical services, while advancing the technical sophistication and efficiency of care delivery.
The successful candidate will be a contemporary medical leader, educator, and clinician who will advance the Department in its quest to deliver exceptional care, enhance its clinical research efforts and ensure fellows, residents and students receive a superior educational experience. Hartford Hospital and the Ayer NSI seek candidates with prior administrative and leadership experience gained within a Department of Neurology and strong interpersonal and communication skills that complement a passion for excellence. Candidates must hold the degree of M.D. or D.O., be Board-certified in Neurology and possess qualifications for appointment to the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
