Neurocritical Care Fellow

The Department of Neurology at UNC Health offers a one or two-year ACGME and UCNS accredited fellowship in neurocritical care. The fellows will receive focused training in the application of diagnostic and treatment strategies for the neurologically critically ill. Faculty with specialized training in neurocritical care will supervise fellows at all times, and the team works closely with faculty from the Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery.
Fellows completing the two-year program will spend a total of 12 months rotating in Neurocritical Care, which is predominantly spent at UNC Hospital’s 22-bed Neuroscience Intensive Care unit (NSICU). The other 12 months are spent doing electives in SICU, MICU, CVICU, EEG, Neuro-IR, Anesthesia or pursing other independent scholarly work in research, education, and quality improvement.
Fellows will also become proficient at ICU procedures including central lines, arterial lines, HD catheters, intubations, etc.
