Summary:
Penn Medicine has great opportunities to work with the Department of Neurosurgery at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania as an ACNP or PA-C caring for Neuro ICU or Neurosurgery Stepdown & Floor patients. New to practice and experienced APP's are encouraged to apply.
Neuro ICU
The Neurocritical Care Unit is a 22 bed unit caring for critically ill traumatic brain injury, subarachnoid hemorrhage, brain tumor, spinal cord injury and stroke patients. The role involves providing advanced practice care in collaboration with the Neurosurgeons and Neurocritical Care team. The provider will direct the clinical management of the critically ill and injured patients. The provider’s practice with a high level of autonomy and expert skill in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the Neurocritical Care patients.
Schedule: Three 13-hour shifts/week, Full-time Day/Night schedule
Neurosurgery Stepdown and Floor
There is an opening to work with the Department of Neurosurgery team as an ACNP or PA-C primarily providing direct care to our stepdown and floor patients, with an opportunity to staff the neurosurgery consult service in collaboration with neurosurgery residents as needed. The provider will direct the clinical management of the critically ill and injured patients, brain tumor, vascular abnormalities, and spine patients. The provider’s practice with a high level of autonomy and expert skill in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the Neurosurgery patients.
Schedule: Full time, six 13-hr shifts in a two-week period. This role can be all nights or a night-day rotation, there is a requirement of 1 weekend per month.
Job Description:
As part of their professional role, they integrate education, research, leadership, and consultation into their clinical practice. The ACNP or PA-C will demonstrate this through nursing and resident education, participation in the division’s research mission and projects, hospital committee membership and leadership, and providing continuity of care for hospital staff, patients, and their families.
Requirements:
· Master’s prepared Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
· Pennsylvania state licensure
· Certification as an ACNP or PA-C
· BLS/ ACLS
