Neurocritical Care Position
Program in Trauma, University of Maryland School of Medicine
The Program in Trauma, Section of Neurocritical Care at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) is recruiting Assistant/Associate Professors for a joint position at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) and the University of Maryland Capital Region Hospital (UMCRH).
The neurosciences intensive care unit at UMMC is a 22-bed unit staffed by UCNS/ABPN certified Neurointensivists across multiple disciplines, ACGME Neurocritical Care Fellows, as well as Advanced Practice Practitioners (APRN/PA), neurocritical care pharmacist, dietician, and house officers from Neurology and Neurosurgery. This state-of-the-art unit is well equipped with the latest neuromonitoring technologies, and cares for a wide range of diseases. UMMC is a JCAHO-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, and the NCC faculty work closely with a team of cerebrovascular neurosurgeons, interventional neuroradiologists, and Vascular Neurologists.
UMCRH is a Level 2 Trauma Center with 40 40-bed multidisciplinary ICU that is currently staffed by three teams consisting of neuro intensivists as well as trauma and medical intensivists. The neurocritical care patient population at UMCRH consists of acute conditions spanning neurovascular, neurotrauma, and neuromedical diseases. The new Neurocritical care faculty will join existing neurointensivists as well as a team of neuroscience advanced practice practitioners to provide coverage for all critically ill neurological patients.
Candidates must be BC/BE in either Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Surgery, Anesthesiology, Neurosurgery or Neurology with fellowship training in Neurocritical Care to qualify for ACGME certification in Neurocritical Care and be eligible for an unrestricted license in the State of Maryland.
