Neurointensivist to join Avera McKennan Hospital a Comprehensive Stroke Certified Health System

Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center is searching for a board-certified neurologist who is fellowship trained in neurocritical care for the Avera Brain & Spine Institute in Sioux Falls, SD. The Neurointensivist would be expected to cover various services – neurocritical care, stroke, consult neurology, as wells as provide leadership to further develop a Neurocritical Care Program.
This is a full-time, salary supported position. You will serve as a staff neurointensivist and will be responsible for providing primary medical management of patients within the unit, as wells as oversight and collaboration with other practitioners who provide care in the unit. Our neuroscience team consists of five neurosurgeons, eight neurologist and five physiatrists. You will additionally be able to participate in neurocritical care practice efficiencies, quality improvement programs, and educational activities for medical students, residents, nurses, and allied health professionals who provide care in the neurocritical care area.
Neurological care services associated with Avera Brain & Spine Institute include: a 22 bed medical & surgical ICU, a 16-bed high acuity critical care unit, a 12-bed neuroscience intermediate unit, dedicated neurosurgical operating room staff with an intraoperative spinal navigation available, designated outpatient neurological diagnostic center, designated video EEG-monitored beds, and a sleep diagnostic center (AASM accredited). The Neuroscience critical care unit supports all aspects of care for critically-ill patients with primary neurological disorders.

- Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is South Dakota’s largest city and the county seat of Minnehaha County. It serves as a healthcare, governmental, law enforcement and financial hub for the area. - The city is a great place to raise a family. The Sioux Falls Symphony Orchestra and the Community Concert Association perform in the Pavilion several times a year; other performing arts groups include the Friends of Traditional Music and the Sioux Falls Community Playhouse.
