UTHealth Houston, in collaboration with Memorial Hermann Hospital is recruiting an academic neurointensivist to join our Neurocritical care division at UT Houston. Our neurocritical care team members provide high acuity care for patients with life-threatening neurological conditions. In addition to our high-volume Comprehensive Stroke and Cerebrovascular Programs, Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center is one of the highest volume trauma centers in the country. Our neurocritical care division staffs 83 neurocritical care beds across the city of Houston with a team of ~ 30 APPs, neurocritical care fellows and residents from neurology, neurosurgery and emergency medicine.
The Division of Neurocritical care is comprised of 14 faculty members. We are looking to recruit an academic neurointensivist with strong clinical skills. In addition to an active clinical environment, there are ample opportunities for academic growth.
We have an active research program with broad expertise in clinical research (active clinical trials), bioinformatics, translational studies (TBI, SAH, Ischemic stroke models) and biomarker discovery. The neurocritical care division has significant infrastructure to conduct both clinical and translational research including a research project manager, biostatistician, research coordinator, research assistants and post-doctoral research fellows. We are funded through grants from the NIH, DOD, AHA, NSF and private foundations. Additionally, we have strong scientific collaborations within the medical school. UT Houston is a CTSA site and has ample opportunities for institutional grants for young investigators. A significant research package for appropriate applicants is possible.
The candidate must be a neurology trained neurointensivist with strong clinical skills and looking to pursue a career as an academic neurointensivist.
